Our playful take on barre-less barre is a dynamic combination of vinyasa yoga with low-impact strength training movements.

This workshop combines philosophy with movement, breaking down the “why” and the “how,” to build a comprehensive foundation for your Yoga Strong practice.

Overview

Ever wonder what your instructor actually means when they “zip up your core?” Why they use the “Magic Number Three” throughout a class sequence? Or heck, what Yoga Strong even is? Designed for long-time barre lovers and brand new students alike, this workshop will guide you through the foundational elements of Yoga Strong so you can bring more awareness and creativity to your in-studio or at-home practice.

Opening with the history and philosophy of Yoga Barre, Amber will provide an in-depth study of the class format and its physical benefits. From stretching to strengthening, and pelvic floor to bone density – understanding the “why” behind the design will support you in an intelligent experience of your practice.

You then dive deep into the nuances of the Yoga Strong practice with a prop + posture clinic. This dedicated space takes you further than a weekly class by (1) reviewing cues and what they actually mean, (2) breaking down props and how to get the most out of them, and (3) exploring common postures such as sumo squats, carousel horse, horse pose, chair pose, etc.

Close the workshop with an exclusive class! A new sequence and playlist guide you as you weave together everything you’ve learned. You’ll leave feeling deeply connected to your practice and Swell’s supportive Yoga Strong community.

Your Host

Amber Richetti has been teaching Yoga Barre and similar styles for over a decade. She first introduced the Swell community to this dynamic practice back in 2021 and went on to develop Swell Yoga’s Yoga Barre training program, one of only two Yoga Alliance registered Yoga Barre schools.

She has thoughtfully created a supportive community of practitioners and is always excited to welcome newcomers to the style.
