Rewilding: A Feminine Wellness Retreat

June 24-28, 2024

British Columbia

with Kianna Miller and Sasha Trope

open to all female-identifying participants

Our Hideaway

Nectar Yoga, our intimate and private retreat space, sits tucked among the woods on the sacred land of the Squamish Nation. Nexwlélexwm (Bowen Island) rests on the Howe Sound, where crisp salt water surrounds the northern island, clouds give way to sunshine, and the outside world fades away.

Intentionally selected by the Swell Retreats team, this dreamy space is where we will tend to our inner landscape. A luscious green backdrop invites us to connect back to the earth and tune into the primal feminine as we step away from society and taste the wild.

Appropriately named, Nectar will hold our practices as we move like honey: sweet, deep, and slow. A spacious yoga dome warms your morning movements with a wood-burning stove and welcomes your evening practices with views of a summer rainforest at dusk. You’ll doze off in luxurious accommodations, nourish your body with locally sourced meals, ease your mind as you swing in hammocks under the summer sun, and restore your spirit as you bathe in this sweet energy.

Is this retreat for me?

Swell retreats are home to anyone looking to nurture their hearts & souls through movement, connection, nature, and ceremony. Rewilding is a lush experience open to all female-identifying individuals with any level of yoga practice who are open to deepening their relationship with themselves and others. Our time together will be intimate and immersive. We invite you to leave behind your everyday life and enter a space for self-inquiry, play, and healing.

Rewilding is the act of removing human intervention and allowing nature to take care of itself. This retreat is intended to restore our natural relationship to earth: sinking our toes into the dirt, breathing in the pollen from the pines, feeling the heartbeat of the land, and rewilding ourselves along the way. Nectar invites us to find alignment between our internal landscape and outside environment. Movement will be deep, connection will be rich, and laughter will be loud.

Nourishment

Local ingredients fill our plates & our bodies to fuel our yoga asana and sustain our spirits. Professional chefs lovingly prepare our seasonal vegetarian meals all week long. We enjoy each meal together in our gathering spaces, creating intentional time to connect, laugh, and share the experience of being on retreat.

We can support most dietary needs; please make these known to us when booking!

Giving Back

While many students are familiar with yoga asana (physical postures), the term yoga goes far beyond the shapes we make with our bodies. Karmic yoga is an altruistic practice – selfless action undertaken for the well-being of others.

With this in mind, Swell sets aside a portion of retreat revenues for our retreat scholarship fund. We dream of making these transformational experiences more accessible to our local community.

Your Hosts

Kianna and Sasha are thrilled to lead the Swell Retreats Team! The two first met on the California coast and forged their relationship through their passion for nature, adventure, and yoga.

While her natural element will always be water, Kianna has a deep love affair with the earth. It started as a toddler enjoying tasty handfuls of dirt in the backyard garden. Now-a-days she seeks out earthy environments to find silence and solitude. Whether it’s sneaking into pockets of the redwoods with her yoga mat to flow in peace, backpacking through rugged terrain to unplug from the modern world, or talking to trees, Kianna embraces the earth’s ability to listen, heal, and bring us back home.

During this retreat, her practices are a reminder to move intuitively, to move patiently, and to be fully present in the experience of being alive. You’ll connect to your primal strength and drop at least a few beads of sweat.

A literal tree hugger, Sasha’s connection to earth has never been stronger than it is right now. Growing up in the farmlands of Maryland, she would regularly seek out dense wooded spaces to let both her dogs and her spirit roam among the maples. Her steady migration west landed her in the damp forest of the Santa Cruz mountain range. Whether it’s solo hikes or resting on the earth, the wild has invited Sasha deeply into the human experience. The trees ground her into her physical body, the natural hum drops her into the present, and the stillness holds her as she befriends her emotions. Sasha’s reverence for mother earth deepens every day.

She is thrilled to return to her tantric roots during this retreat and offer some of the traditional embodiment practices of the lineage. During her sessions you will explore breath, movement, and stillness as you drop into your natural state of being.

Past Participant Experience

What others have said about past Swell Retreats!

I went into the retreat feeling really disconnected from my body, emotions, and spirit. I left [the retreat] feeling like my heart was cracked wide open. – Lindsay

I hadn’t taken a class with them prior to this retreat and took a leap of faith that their style of teaching/being would flow well with me and I have ZERO regrets. They are the most gifted facilitators and yoga teachers and also so open and loving and bring that to the mat with them and also just life. – Kendall

I had an experience of a lifetime that I will forever be grateful for. Being able to meet and connect deeply with people who started as strangers but left as one interconnected life force was magical and something that has changed me in so many different ways. – Antony

Kianna and Sasha made true magic happen leading the Swell retreat in Tulum. We initially came together as a group of complete strangers but returned from the retreat with a deep sense of community and new connection that now feel like family on the coast. – Angela
