Overview
Step into a day of deep presence and reflection with our Solstice Meditation Day Retreat. A full-day mindfulness immersion held in sacred silence as we honor the Winter Solstice. This powerful seasonal threshold invites us to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the inner light that remains constant even in the darkest days of the year.
Within the container of silence, we’ll explore mindfulness through seated and walking meditation, mindful eating, gentle movement, and a restorative yin practice paired with an immersive sound bath. The weaving of these powerful practices is designed to help the body and mind soften, release, and integrate the day’s awareness. Together, we’ll reflect on the symbolism of the solstice: embracing the darkness, welcoming the light, and realigning with nature’s rhythm of rest and renewal.
As the poet Kabir expressed, “I wanted a great pilgrimage, so I sat in silence for three days.” Silence is a powerful tool for quieting the mind and turning inwards. By cultivating silence, we learn to trust the wisdom of our hearts, gain insights into our habits of thought, and open ourselves to the life-changing effects of sustained mindfulness.
This retreat is open to all who feel called to slow down and turn inward. Whether you’re new to meditation or an experience practitioner, you’ll leave feeling renewed and grounded, with a sense of inner spaciousness and peace as you enter the winter season in alignment with its quiet rhythm.

The Journey
Opening + Entering Silence
We begin in community with an Opening Circle, setting intentions and grounding into presence before entering silence, creating the sacred container for the day’s practice.
Turning Inward
Through a Winter Solstice dharma talk, guided meditation, mindful movement, and walking meditation, we open to the patience of winter and cultivate steady awareness in body and mind.
Mindfulness + Nourishment
We deepen into silence through seated practice and a mindful eating experience, savoring a nourishing plant-based lunch shared in quiet awareness.
Deep Presence
Seated and walking meditation support the continuation of continuous mindfulness. Anchoring attention, softening the heart, and attuning to inner spaciousness.
Embodied Restoration
An hour-long Yin Yoga practice invites release and renewal, followed by a soothing hour-long Sound Bath with Martina to support integration, harmony, and rest.
Closing Circle + Reflection
We circle once more to honor the Winter Solstice with a guided ritual and meditation, a symbolic shedding and welcoming of light, before reopening dialogue.
